Bromham Mill is an iconic heritage asset. Our community enterprise will offer top grade goods and services, including help for people starting craft businesses, and jobs for people with learning and autistic disabilities.
Opportunities and Activities tell of the community ventures we would like to provide, whilst caring for the ecology and heritage. The Mill will become a serene centre of inclusion, in tune with the area's quality of life.
Work has already begun off site with a craft business startup programme, advice and help. And a small-scale mosaics workshop.
We've been consulting widely – with community groups, local authorities, the public at large, and our stakeholders – and have listened to what people said. In the light of their concerns, we've cut some scenes from our original scenario (see Our plans).
We're aiming to negotiate property rights for the Mill which will enable us to implement our plans (the freeholder is Bedford Borough Council). The money we’re raising will cover our initial costs. By 2014, we plan to be paying our way. Later, we’ll reinvest all surpluses in our community enterprise. The money side of our plans will stack up in bad times and good times.
